2nd Place: €240,000,000 - Austria
After months of suspenseful rollovers, a record-breaking €240 million EuroMillions jackpot was won on 8 December 2023 by a single ticket sold in Austria. Although not many details on the winner were released, Austrian Lotteries claim that the lucky player joined the draw with 20 lines, with the very last one matching the jackpot prize!
This thrilling win means that the next EuroMillions jackpot cap will be boosted to €250 million and that the cap will no longer be increased by €10 million increments when reached due to the rules implemented by EuroMillions in 2020.
3rd Place: €230,000,000 - United Kingdom
Three records were broken with this EuroMillions jackpot win! On 19 July 2022, an unprecedented €230 million jackpot prize was won by a single UK ticketholder after a boosted Superdraw jackpot had a series of rollovers and reached the lottery’s cap. The lucky winner(s) correctly guessed the seven winning numbers, which were 6, 23, 27, 40, 41 and the Lucky Star numbers 2 and 12.
The National Lottery stated that this is the largest lottery prize they’ve ever awarded to a UK player and it’s the second Superdraw jackpot won in 2022 by a UK ticket. The big win also took the title of the biggest EuroMillions and European jackpot.
4th Place: €220,000,000 - France
15 October 2021 marked a new record in the EuroMillions and European lottery world! This incredible €220 million jackpot had been won by a young woman from French Polynesia just six rollovers after the Superdraw series started. It is not only the biggest jackpot ever won in France, but also the biggest EuroMillions prize ever won (for now!). The draw's winning numbers were: 21, 26, 31, 34, 49 and Lucky Stars 2 and 5.
This event also meant that the next EuroMillions jackpot would be capped at €230 million!
5th Place: €215,840,341 - United Kingdom
On 10 May 2022, a single ticket won the entire €215.8 million EuroMillions jackpot, after UK couple Joe and Jess Thwait correctly guessed the winning numbers: 3, 25, 27, 28, 29 - plus the Lucky Star numbers 4 and 9. That made them the second UK EuroMillions of 2022, but the biggest ever UK lottery winners in history!
Surprisingly enough, this huge jackpot was won in an ordinary EuroMillions draw and not as part of a Superdraw series.
